Our policies and procedures for handling customer information have been created with the understanding that there continues to be constant change in internet technologies. As we strive to provide the services requested by our clients, we constantly, collect, accumulate and store information and communications that may be deemed private or sensitive to certain individuals and/or bodies. Some of this information – such as the customer’s name, address, telephone number, and credit card data – is provided to THE CHURCH ONLINE by its customers in order to establish service. Other information – such as the customer’s account status, choice of services, and customer logs – is created and maintained by THE CHURCH ONLINE in the normal course of providing service.

Opt Out & Modifications

Customers may opt out of receiving notices of new or upgraded products from THE CHURCH ONLINE and THE CHURCH ONLINE partners by sending a request to admin@thechurchonline.com. In this request to admin@thechurchonline.com, Customers must identify: service purchased from THE CHURCH ONLINE, domain name (if applicable), contact information, and the date the service was purchased. However, customers may not opt out of receiving information from THE CHURCH ONLINE, which is essential for maintaining or updating customers’ accounts or system information.

All current customers may access and modify their personal information via the online My Account information page.

Disclosure of customer information and communications

THE CHURCH ONLINE will not otherwise disclose its customers’ personal and account information unless THE CHURCH ONLINE has reason to believe that disclosing such information is necessary to identify, make contact with, or bring legal action against someone who may be causing harm or interfering with the rights or property of THE CHURCH ONLINE, its customers, or others, or where THE CHURCH ONLINE. has a good faith belief that the law requires such disclosure.

THE CHURCH ONLINE also will not, except for reasons stated below, disclose to third parties the contents of any electronic mail or other electronic communications that THE CHURCH ONLINE stores or transmits for its customers. The circumstances under which THE CHURCH ONLINE will disclose such electronic customer communications are when:

  • it is necessary in order to provide service to the customer;
  • it is necessary to protect the legitimate interests of THE CHURCH ONLINE and its customers;

THE CHURCH ONLINE disclaims any intention to censor, edit or engage in ongoing review or surveillance of communications stored on or transmitted through its facilities by customers or others. THE CHURCH ONLINE will, however, review, delete or block access to communications that may harm THE CHURCH ONLINE, its customers or third parties. The grounds on which THE CHURCH ONLINE may take such action include, but are not limited to, actual or potential violations of THE CHURCH ONLINE Terms and Conditions.

SMS/Text Message Marketing

When you provide your mobile phone number and consent to receive text messages from The Church Online, the following additional terms apply:

Information We Collect

  • Your mobile phone number and any associated consent or opt-in information (including date/time of opt-in and the method of consent).
  • Message interaction history (for example, replies, whether you opted out).
  • Preferences you may provide regarding whether you wish to receive SMS messages.

How We Use Your Information

  • To send you periodic text messages, which may include: promotional communications, updates about our services, reminders, event notifications, or other information you have requested.
  • To administer your participation in our SMS/text-message program (including managing opt-out requests).
  • We will not share your mobile phone number or your SMS opt-in/consent status with affiliates or third-parties for marketing or promotional purposes other than vendors and service providers engaged to assist with the delivery of the SMS messages.

Consent, Frequency & Charges

  • By opting in, you explicitly consent to receive recurring automated text messages from The Church Online to the mobile number you provided. Consent is not a condition of any purchase.
  • Message frequency may vary. Message and data rates may apply from your wireless provider.
  • You may opt out at any time by replying STOP to any SMS message you receive. After we receive your opt-out request, we will cease sending you marketing texts unless you re-opt in.

  • Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Data Retention & Security

  • We retain your mobile phone number, opt-in date/time, and message-interaction history for as long as you remain subscribed to the SMS service and for a reasonable time thereafter in accordance with our standard data-retention practices.
  • We implement appropriate security measures to protect your personal information in our SMS program against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction.

Your Rights

  • You have the right to access, update, or request deletion of your mobile phone number and opt-in record.
  • If you choose to withdraw your consent to receive SMS/text-message communications, you may still receive other non-marketing text messages if you have separately consented to them (e.g., important service notifications) or if we are otherwise permitted by law.

Changes

  • We may modify this SMS-specific section of our Privacy Policy at any time. When changes are significant, we will provide appropriate notice as described in our main Privacy Policy.
